Morgan’s Ice Cream in Fort Worth: My Favorite scoop shop

If you’re to be walking down South Main Street, you might just miss Morgan’s, a little ice cream shop in Fort Worth, Texas. What they lack in size, they make up for in flavor. When you enter the store, you will immediately be at the counter to order your ice cream. If you go during busy times, it will feel crowded as it is so small inside. Every time we have gone, even during busy times it has thankfully been manageable to be able to stand inside but it does not take much to fill it up. There is a small amount of seating inside but most people take their ice cream to go after ordering.

I went dairy free (for the most part!) several years ago and ice cream was one of my favorite treats from before that. 

My husband and I stumbled upon this gem of an ice cream shop during a weekend getaway for our anniversary. I saw that they had vegan (and gluten free) ice cream as well as regular flavors that I knew my husband would enjoy. 

We ventured out after dinner at the famous Joe T. Garcia’s to try this scoop shop and I’m so glad we did! In fact, we went back the next two nights we were there! 😅

What Makes Morgan’s Unique
My husband LOVED the regular flavors and I couldn’t believe how delicious and creamy their vegan options were! Not only that, but they have seven flavors that they keep all year long and four rotating flavors each month.  Usually, one or two of the rotating flavors they have are vegan and gluten free so anyone who needs those options gets to join in on the fun of new flavors as well! You can check out their website here! On their website you can find all of their regular flavors as well as their special flavors for the month. Their standard flavors at the time we visited include “Honey, Not So Vanilla”, “Wookies Cookies”, “Fudged Up Cookie Dough”, “Cookie monster”, “Cookies, Cookies & Cream”, “Strawberry Magic”, and “Fudged up Brownie”.

My favorite standard flavor is the fudged up cookie dough (V/GF) and my husband’s is the strawberry magic. The ice cream base is perfect and when you add in all of the flavors, it will keep you coming back. They also recently had a vegan and gluten free rotating flavor called S’morgans and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD! 

Morgan’s house made vegan ice cream is a blend of coconut milk and oat milk ice cream. If you’re not a coconut lover, the blend of the two milks really works to make the coconut flavor not as strong, in my opinion. The ice cream is creamy and delicious. When I eat Morgan’s, it is one of the few times where I feel like I am not missing out by not having traditional dairy ice cream.

Special Promotions

To add a little more fun to the summer, Morgan’s has a day called “Stuff Your Stainless”. You pay $10 and get four scoops stuffed into your own stainless cup. I’ve never been able to participate due to timing, but I found out last year that they sold vouchers where you could come in whenever you wanted instead of having to wait in line on that one day (did I mention it’s a tiny shop?!). I have also been able to purchase several gift cards that were half off. They advertise on their emails and on their Facebook page about these deals. You can look for them here. They also share special flavors that have limited runs outside of the monthly options.

Ways to get your ice cream

There are multiple ways that you can order your ice cream. You can order it in a cup, in a cone, in a milkshake, a float, affogato, or as a flight. They also have toppings you can add to your ice cream for more fun! One thing I love to add to mine is the dye free sprinkles. If you want to enjoy your ice cream later or get a larger quantity, they also have pints ready to go by the register.

Morgan’s is great for the whole family! The only drawback is that it is a bit pricy. Buying pints of ice cream or watching for one of their discounted deals to pop up may help keep the costs down. Whenever we are near Fort Worth, we always make an excuse to visit this delicious little shop and I hope you will too!
