Mondo’s Authentic Italian Restaurant in Tulsa, OK

If you stick around here long enough, you’ll realize I love Italian food! One of my favorite places to eat is a local Italian restaurant that is run by a whole family. You can feel the energy, the camaraderie, and the hospitality is amazing. This pales in comparison when you taste the food! It is outstanding. With this local experience being so great, I have a high bar for any new Italian restaurants I visit. I am always looking for restaurants that can compete with this vibe and with the taste of the food. It can be hard to find!

When we visited Tulsa, Ok for the first time, it was during the COVID-19 pandemic. We were looking for unique restaurants to order from and enjoy from our Airbnb. Mondo’s Ristorante Italian fit the bill so we ordered from it and gave it a try. I was hoping for great food but was skeptical if they could deliver when we were not eating in the restaurant. So often food is great in a restaurant where it is served hot and fresh, but may fall flat if brought home and is only warm or is cold and needs to be reheated.

On my first visit, I ordered Garlic bread, Caeser Salad, and Tortellini whereas my friend went with a shrimp dish and a salad. Despite our initial hesitancy, we both loved it! The food was so good and delicious, even when we were unable to enjoy it in the restaurant. A year later, my family and I went back to Tulsa. We were on our way to Pawhuska, OK to see all things Pioneer Woman and wanted to spend a few days in Tulsa. This restaurant stood out as one of my favorites while visiting the area, so I decided to take my family here so they would also get to experience it.

When my family and I ate at this restaurant, we were able to sit in and eat our food fresh from the kitchen. The food was good the first time we had, but being able to experience the ambiance and have our food freshly delivered to our table, made it even better. Our waitress was great and very helpful with assisting everyone in our party with recommendations on what to order. There were so many great options of food to order, so it was helpful to have guidance and perspective on which food items were good and which ones were GREAT!

Another fun aspect of visiting this restaurant was that they have a window where you can watch them make pizza dough. My niece and nephew loved getting to watch this! It is so cool when a restaurant invites you in to see the processes of how they make their food.

During my second visit, I ordered Chicken Parmigiana and it was also fantastic. Everything that was ordered by my family was loved and everyone enjoyed their meals immensely. Mondo’s does a great job not only making tasty food but in making the dishes look incredibly appetizing and delicious.

At the time of this writing, Mondo’s is open a large portion of the week: Monday-Saturday from 11am-10pm.

A little history about Mondo’s. Mondo’s is a true family restaurant. It was started by the Aloisio family whose ancestors immigrated from Italy. They have won an award for the “Best Italian Restaurant in Tulsa”, which from my experiences, I can truly see why. They use family recipes that have been passed down and I am so glad they do! Mondo’s was started in 1969 and I hope it continues for many more years to come.
